It’s Zaturday, the day we, Ziggy and Zorro, take over Mommy’s blog.
Zorro here. Wow, we had something wild happen this morning. Ziggy and I had just finished enjoying our breakfast and were getting ready to settle in for our first nap of the day when we heard a really strange noise. It sort of sounded like faraway thunder. It got louder and louder, and then the house started shaking. Mommy and Daddy jumped up and ran outside. We didn’t know what was going on. I don’t think they did, either. I just hunkered down and held on.
Finally the shaking stopped. Mommy said we had an earthquake, that it was a 4.1 and the epicenter was 30 miles from us. I don’t know what all that means, but I was really scared. I went upstairs and hid under Mommy and Daddy’s bed. I figured if it happened again, I would be safe there. After a while, Mommy reached under there and pulled me out. She put me on the bed and petted me for a while. She kept saying everything was okay, that there wouldn’t be any more earthquakes, but I wasn’t sure if I could believe her. Ziggy was there, too, but he didn’t look too worried. I mean, look at him. He’s sound asleep. Sometimes I wonder about him. When Mommy left the room, though, I cuddled up to him. Since he was all chill, I thought maybe he knew something I didn’t. Either that or he’s just clueless all the way around.
When it came time for lunch, Mommy actually expected us to eat! Normally I get pretty excited about eating, but not today. I was too shaken up to be interested in eating. Not Ziggy. He went for his food like he hadn’t eaten all week! I just looked up at Mommy and then walked away. She didn’t try to make me eat, which was a good thing.
Now it’s dinnertime. I think I’m starting to get over the excitement of this morning. In fact, dinner is sounding pretty good. It’s smelling good, too.
Yep, things seem to be back to normal. I don’t know what that was this morning, but I sure hope it never happens again.
What a lovely story! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Phyllis. I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was definitely an experience!
